Barva se musí přiznat; kdo ji nemá, musí trumfnout, a kdo nemá ani trumf, přidá cokoli. Zdvih bere nejvyšší karta vynesené barvy — pokud do něj nepadl trumf.
Volený a licitovaný
Sto — nasbírat 100 a víc bodů. Betl — nezískat ani jeden zdvih. Durch — získat všechny. Betl a durch se hrají bez trumfů.
Flekování a peníze
Obrana může závazek zdvojnásobit flekem, aktér odpoví re, obrana tutti, dál boty a ve voleném ještě kalhoty (licitovaný končí botami). Každá složka se zdvojuje zvlášť a červený trumf zdvojnásobuje barevné závazky ještě jednou. Po každém rozdání se platí: kdo závazek splnil, tomu platí oba soupeři; kdo ho nesplnil, platí oběma.

Pocta
FLEK! (1991–92) a RE! (1993) napsal v Turbo Pascalu Ing.

How it is played
Mariáš is a game for three players with 32 German-suited cards (acorns, leaves, hearts, bells; seven to ace). One player — the declarer — plays alone against two defenders and has to fulfil a contract of their own choosing.
Seven cards are dealt, then five. In the chosen variant forehand (the player after the dealer) picks a trump suit from their first seven cards and puts that card aside face down. In the auction variant the hand is bid for and a higher commitment beats a lower one. The declarer then puts two cards in the talon — they count as won at the end — and announces what they will play.
Then come ten tricks. You must follow suit; if you cannot, you must trump, and if you have no trump either, you may play anything. The highest card of the led suit takes the trick, unless someone trumped it.
Aces and tens are worth ten points each, the last trick another ten. A king and the ober of the same suit are a marriage worth 20 (40 in trumps), but only if you announce it as you play the first of the pair.
Watch the ten: in games with a trump it sits just below the ace, but in betl and durch it is lower than the unter.
Chosen and auction
Chosen (as in FLEK!) — the trump is always picked by forehand, from their first seven cards, and that card is set aside face down; with a poor hand they may pick blind “from the people”, the second packet of five. They then ask the defenders whether a colour game stands and announce only once the answer is in. The opponents can take the hand over only with betl or durch, but they may call seven or hundred against.
Auction (as in RE!) — no trump is chosen in advance; the hand is bid for: seven, hundred, hundred and seven, betl, durch… a higher commitment beats a lower one, and a red one counts a step above. Whoever is left takes the talon and must announce at least what they bid — more is allowed (durch after a bid betl). The suit is chosen only at the announcement.
Contracts
Game — score more than the defence (a tie loses for the declarer). Seven — take the last trick with the trump seven. Hundred — score 100 or more. Betl — take no trick at all. Durch — take every one. Betl and durch are played without a trump.
Doubling and money
The defence may double the contract with a flek, the declarer answers re, the defence tutti, then boty, and in the chosen variant kalhoty (the auction variant stops at boty). Each component is doubled independently, and a red trump doubles the colour contracts once more. Each hand is settled at once: whoever fulfils their contract is paid by both opponents, whoever fails pays them both.

Tribute
FLEK! (1991–92) and RE! (1993) were written in Turbo Pascal by Ing. Jaroslav Pivoňka (Pivoňka Software). This game is a tribute to them, not a port — it contains none of the original code or binaries.
Dedicated to my father, Josef Saiko, who loved mathematics and set me on the path to programming.
I checked how the original behaves in DOSBox, on my father’s copy of RE! — it is licensed in his own name and says so on exit:

Cards
The historical deck is scans of a single-headed Prague pattern (Ant. Kratochvíl, Prague, around 1860) — public domain, via Wikimedia Commons (scans: Bibliothèque nationale de France, Gallica). The two modern decks (coloured and folk) are original and MIT licensed, like the rest of the code.

Hommage
FLEK! (1991–92) und RE! (1993) schrieb Ing. Jaroslav Pivoňka (Pivoňka Software) in Turbo Pascal.

Comment on joue
On distribue sept cartes, puis cinq.
Viennent alors dix plis.
